Our future depends on getting the best talents

OUR Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak should be lauded for initiating the formation of Talent Corporation Malaysia Bhd effective Jan 1.
The objective is to attract, recruit, develop and retain local and foreign talents to work in Malaysia with the introduction of a resident pass for highly-skilled expats and spouses who wish to live and work in the country for a period of at least 10 years.
There is a great urgency to ensure our Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) has the right talent with the right knowledge, skill and ability to achieve its desired outcomes.
Billions of dollars are being invested for the 12 New Key Economics Areas and other strategic areas such as bio-technology, ICT and aerospace.
It is recommended that Talent Corp’s board comprises an ethnically-mixed group of local and foreign experts. There will be a greater transfer of knowledge on how the best global companies build a strong managerial talent pool.
The aim is to ensure continuity in the development of our second generation leaders for the future to take up key positions in Government-Linked Companies (GLCs) and the private sector.
Talented leaders want exciting challenges and greater development opportunities. They want to be in a great company with great leaders, and for the work environment to be open, trusting and performance-oriented.
They want substantial wealth creation opportunities and higher salaries, relocation packages, signing bonuses and stock options.
This is the price that Talent Corp needs to pay to attract the best brains to steer Malaysia towards becoming a developed nation by 2020.         by(c sathasivam seremban)
